The Sierra Bernia Mountain, located in Altea is one of the most popular hiking routes on the Costa Blanca.

Part of the Betica mountain range which runs from the south to the southeast of the peninsula, the Sierra Bernia rises to a height of 1.054 meters and is one of our most popular routes for hikers and nature lovers.

This popular 11-kilometer circuit offers spectacular views and an impressive “forat” or passageway carved out of the mountain.  The Forat measures 20 meters in length, and as you pass through there are some areas where the height of the tunnel diminishes forcing you to crawl through.   It is well worth the effort though when you emerge on the other side.

All walks include free transport from Benidorm, Albir, Altea, Calpe, or the Alicante area, a guide, packed lunch (not on the easy walks), and water.

Walking poles are available on request as are Day Packs.  These are small versions of a backpack that are lightweight but big enough for small items and are usually used on shorter day hikes.

There is a guide for every 6 hikers on our moderate to strenuous routes or 1 guide for 8 hikers on the easier walks.

Walks are normally during the week to avoid the crowds at weekends and bank holidays.

We recommend walking shoes/boots and a light rain jacket.
